In these clips Josh and Fenn discuss the rare and precious skills learned during their placements. Back in the spring Brilliant Trees Media, Screen Manchester, and BBC Children’s & Education offered a unique opportunity to become involved in bringing exciting new TV series Dodge’s Pup School to life and did this with the support of Screen Alliance North with BFI National Lottery funding
The Brilliant Trees team was looking for applicants to join the production and to work alongside an experienced team of puppeteers. The ideal candidates had to be enthusiastic about breathing life into puppets and infusing them with personality and emotion. Another request was that the aspiring puppeteers be keen to develop acting skills to enable them to convey different emotions through the movements and expressions of the puppet whose gestures and movements they would control.
A talent for mimicry and articulating words clearly through syncing the movement of the puppet’s mouth with spoken dialogue or songs was another quality the team hoped to find.
Dodge’s Pup School has now arrived on screen and is delighting CBeebies viewers. In these clips, Josh and Fenn, two of the trainees who secured places, discuss the rare and precious skills learned during their time on set. Puppeteers will always be in demand and thanks to this wonderful opportunity the talent pipeline continues to flow!
