Over 700 applications, 64 future crew members, one incredible day.
The application process for the new Waterloo Road traineeship has now officially closed, and the response was phenomenal — with over 700 applications received from across Greater Manchester.
From that outstanding pool, 64 new entrants were selected to progress to the next stage: the Waterloo Road Training Day.
Morning: On-Set Essentials
The day kicked off with hands-on workshops led by industry professionals, giving our new entrants a real insight into life on a major BBC drama. Sessions covered the fundamentals of working on set, including:
• Understanding a Call Sheet
• Health & Safety
• Good Work Practice & Set Etiquette
• Crew Hierarchy
Afternoon: Meet the Departments
In the afternoon, attendees were introduced to the Heads of Department who they could be working alongside during their traineeship.
Trainees had the chance to speak directly with HODs from Camera, Sound, Post Production, Assistant Directing (AD), Hair & Makeup, Costume, and Art — asking their burning questions about what it’s really like to work on BBC’s Waterloo Road and what to expect from a traineeship.
It was a fantastic day of learning, networking, and inspiration, and a brilliant first step for the next generation of behind-the-scenes talent.
