Heaton Park

Manchester’s Heaton Park has taken centre stage on the news agenda in 2025 as the setting for Liam and Noel Gallagher’s triumphant return to their home turf. Tens of thousands of Oasis fans have landed in the Prestwich landmark’s grounds and many of them may have experienced a sense of ‘deja-vu’ on arrival.

Heaton Park and the magnificent Heaton Hall which presides over the gardens and grounds have long enjoyed the limelight, albeit not always with a BritPop edge. This month we focus on The Park.

Heaton Park is a historic area on the edge of Manchester with attractions offering a full day out for all ages. Visitors can enjoy play areas, cafes, an Animal Centre, a Tram Museum, bowling greens, a golf course, a boating lake, and also horse riding.

But there’s so much more to tell.  Many a story has been shared using the park as a backdrop, easily moulded to suit any scenario in any time frame: from period drama to dystopian vision and everything in between.

Here’s just some of the TV hits that have been brought to life in this peaceful setting, so close to all the amenities, travel links and services of central Manchester.

A varied portfolio of titles including Coronation Street, It’s A Sin, A Gentleman In Moscow, Bancroft, Traces, Brassic, Red Rose, House of Guinness and Ridley have all seen the Screen Manchester Team find the perfect locations in the park to bring the word on the page to life on the screen.
