Introducing Screen Manchester production trainee Kelly Quinzel

Introducing Screen Manchester production trainee Kelly Quinzel who, as a Screen Manchester trainee enjoyed a placement in the costume department on Talamasca, which shot at Space Studios and around Manchester. In this clip she shares with us a little about the shape of her day on set.

Style and fashion have always featured high on Kelly’s list of passions so it was no surprise for us to learn that she was keen to engage and work with costume designers and supervisors across the Film and TV industry. Her CV already included an internship with Alexander McQueen and she had a track record in designing and making costumes for her own personal client list.

We were impressed by Kelly’s focus and determination to pursue a career in Film and Television. She came to us with a BA degree in Textiles In Practice. She had also worked as a facilities runner with Manchester-based Social Enterprise SharpFutures which had added to her employability.

The fact that Kelly had taken the time to familiarise herself with working on set and understood the pressures and the need for teamwork and creative thinking on the spot meant we had no hesitation to put her forward for a position in Talamasca’s costume department where she is currently thriving learning still more about the central role costume plays in brilliant and effective storytelling.

Our aim at Screen Manchester and Screen Alliance North with support from BFI with National Lottery Funding is to provide new talent with a gateway into the future where they can apply their particular skills in a professional setting, learn from experienced professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of the Film and TV’s intricacies. Also to enable them to expand personal networks and to become a fully rounded professional contributor to the creative community.

Kelly ticked all these boxes and we can’t wait to chart her future journey.
