The Bee & Dragon Catering Company

Anyone who has ever worked on location be that on a drama, a comedy, a documentary or an advert will be only too aware of just how memories of any and every production are shaped by “The Catering”….

The fuel it takes to power a production comes in many shapes and forms but unquestionably the most important to the cast and crew is the food we eat. Good food makes for a happy set and our Facility of the Month this time is The Bee & Dragon Catering Company.

When the call sheet lands for each day’s shoot let’s be honest all everyone really wants to know is:

  • “What time do we start?”
  • “What time is breakfast?”
  • “When do we break for lunch?”
  • “When do we wrap?”

Our path has crossed many times on our locations and at Space Studios with the wonderful team from The Bee and Dragon. Some of the projects we have met on include Cobra, A Gentleman In Moscow and Brassic.

We have been lucky enough to sample some of the culinary delights cooked up in their kitchens and then expertly served to the assembled hungry masses.

The Bee and Dragon pride themselves on catering for all diets and accompanying requirements. Here’s a few examples of the sort of menu choices they offer!

  • Homemade American style pancakes, maple syrup, streaky bacon
  • Sausage patty, fried egg and cheese in toasted English muffin
  • Za’atar baked salmon, Roasted chickpeas, tenderstem broccoli, baby new potatoes, cherry tomatoes, feta, coriander, parsley & mint
  • Char sui belly pork, Japanese miso broth, soy egg, charred bok choy, Asian pickles, wheat/rice noodles
  • Pesto chicken, garlic and thyme cream sauce, sundried tomato and mozzarella gnocchi, garlic Focaccia
  • BBQ box with BBQ celeriac, Cajun corn ribs, crispy halloumi fries, vegan hot dog, coleslaw, potato salad, homemade cornbread
  • Lemon posset raspberry coulis, shortbread
  • Biscoff and dark chocolate brownie with Chantilly cream

Bobby Cochrane, Film Office Manager for Screen Manchester says, “Having spent time on a lot of sets, it is always a joy to find suppliers who can accommodate the demands of a busy working set which can at times be ever-changing. Time frames can change momentarily. The Bee and Dragon consistently serve up delicious and nourishing meals with top notch service!“.

The Bee and Dragon say: “We take pride in creating weekly menus to accommodate all cast and crew needs whilst ensuring all needs are met. From a hearty shepherd’s pie on a cold winter’s day to a light Mexican rice bowl with sweetcorn salsa, pico de gallo and smashed avocado on those long summer shoots
