At Screen Manchester we are fortunate to call SPACE STUDIOS MANCHESTER our home.
Since the studios opened their doors to the world of Film, High End Television and Commercial Production in 2014 this purpose built facility has also become a temporary home in Manchester to a host of iconic big and small screen moments as well as an amazing cast of movie and TV stars. Where better to be named January’s ‘Facility of the Month’?
When producers arrive at the West Gorton site they find themselves in a genuine one-stop shop. For a start the facility has more than 85,000 sq ft of high spec stages with purpose designed dressing and make-up facilities, laundry, prop storage/workshops and extensive parking. There is one stage of 30,000 sq ft, four stages of 11,500 sq ft and a sixth of 9,000 sq ft. When partnered with the wonderful range of locations – interiors and exteriors – that Screen Manchester can facilitate it is no surprise that more and more international producers are looking to Manchester!
The Studios have welcomed productions from all domestic UK broadcasters and an enviable list of clients from around the world producing for a range of the best known international streaming services who also come to work in Manchester.
As a result Space Studios Manchester have hosted and supported a spectrum of stellar productions – everything from global phenomenons Peaky Blinders and Marvel’s Morbius to A Gentleman In Moscow and Nolly. From Manchester’s own veteran soap Coronation Street to much loved ‘dramedy’ Cold Feet.
Academy Award Winner Cillian Murphy, Star Wars’ Obi Wan himself Ewan McGregor, style icon and award-winning Helena Bonham Carter and Rock star, Golden Globe and Oscar Winner Jared Leto are just a few who have sprinkled their individual and special brands of stardust across the studios.
To bring the scripts the stars bring to life requires the infrastructure and Space Studios Manchester delivers everything required. This is a fully accessible site which also provides the home to an array of top notch facility providers. There is even a 10,000 sq ft construction / prop shop situated next to the loading area with an extensive canopy, protecting valuable set items from being exposed to the elements. In addition, there is dedicated support space directly adjacent to each of the stages, including a full suite of dressing rooms, shower facilities and an onsite laundry, as well as extensive flexible support space providing tenants with conveniently located production offices.
The site is located 5 minutes east of Manchester city centre and is easily accessible by car, rail and bus. Manchester Airport is also close by and we are delighted to report that still more producers are looking to take their productions to Manchester.
